Happy October!
With all of the changes this fall, we hope you and your family are settling into a good and healthy rhythm.
In case you missed our last event, Advice to Our Younger Selves, you can read about it here. We can’t thank our panelists, Jill Albert, Linda Ong and Risa Wexler enough for lending their stories and tactics. Our top ten list bears repeating:
- Work for someone you respect
- Trust your instincts and don't be afraid to go outside of your comfort zone
- Reflect on the times that you felt happy, validated and fulfilled so that you can seek to replicate those environments
- Never say "no" to a meeting, and ask to meet those you admire
- Establish your own criteria for success by knowing what you want to accomplish (and why)
- Stay in control: Audit yourself and make the best of situations
- Don't apologize: Set your own boundaries or others will set them for you
- Continue to learn and show off the skills you have, even if you don't get paid for them
- Every problem has a solution
- Do what you love
Tonight, our friends at the Alliance for Women in Media Southern California Affiliate invited us to their free webinar, Career From Here: A Roundtable Discussion with Hiring Experts. Professionals from ViacomCBS, Cult Gaia, Executive Temps and Mattell will be there. You can find more details and the link to register here.
We are rolling out a new series, It’s About Me Monday. Our first event will be Monday, November 9th on The Price of Distraction. Advertising and media leaders will be sharing their tricks and tips on prioritizing the must do’s, should do’s and can do’s for long-term happiness and good health. We all have to manage the tasks that need to get done for others while maintaining the time and energy for the things we want and love doing for ourselves. Register today here!
